The Department of Pathology manages a Clinical Laboratory Sciences Scholarship program designed to offer a rising senior Clinical Laboratory Sciences student a scholarship for his or her senior year in return for two years employment as a Medical Technologist with the VCUHS Department of Pathology. This program has proven to be a very valuable recruitment tool for the Medical Technologists our laboratory requires and also strengthens our relationship with the Department of Clinical Laboratory Sciences School within the School of Allied Health Professions at Virginia Commonwealth University.
We are now in our fourth year of this successful scholarship program. For the year 2003/2004, we awarded the scholarship to two students (Tia Jones and Rebecca Payne) in the amount of $5,000 each, and for the year 2004/2005, we awarded the same amount to one student (Natalie Calcaterra). Last year, we had three very qualified individuals to offer the scholarship. The scholarship award that year was increased to $10,000 (Jason Nagy, Shelby Taylor, and Nazar Mohammadali).
Once again, we have three excellent candidates and have awarded each a $10,000 scholarship for the 2006-2007 academic year.
