The Department of Pathology offers a complete range of laboratory testing services in anatomic pathology, clinical pathology, and molecular diagnostics. We are equipped to provide the highest level of support to health care providers through leading-edge technologies, quality assurance measurements, and laboratory management programs.

Our laboratory facilities are conveniently located in downtown Richmond on the MCV Campus. The Anatomic Pathology Receiving area is located at the MCV campus in the Gateway Building, 1200 E. Marshall Street, 6th floor, (804) 828-9739. The Clinical Pathology Receiving area is located on the MCV campus in the Clinical Support Center (CSC), 403 N. 13th Street, 6th floor Room 643.

Accreditation and Licensure

The VCUHS clinical laboratories are certified by the Federal Government under the Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments (CLIA) of 1988, and are fully accredited by the College of American Pathologists (CAP), and the American Association of Blood Banks (AABB), and registered with the Food and Drug Administration (FDA):

Education 
The Department supports the education of medical laboratory professionals by providing a Scholarship Program for senior undergraduate students in the VCUHS School of Allied Health Professionals, Department of Clinical Laboratory Services. Please visit our Medical Laboratory Professionals website.
