Microbiology/Immunology is the only clinical laboratory providing diagnostic microbiology and immunology services at VCU Health System. 

Microbiology is staffed 24/7 and offers full diagnostic testing in Bacteriology (aerobic and anaerobic), Antimicrobial Susceptibility Testing, Mycobacteriology, Mycology, Parasitology, and DNA Amplification testing for detection of Chlamydia trachomatis and Neisseria gonorrhoeae

Immunology is staffed 7days/week and offers comprehensive testing in Clinical Virology, Hepatitis and HIV testing, other Infectious Disease serologic testing, Autoimmune serologic testing including ANA, Electrophoresis, and a large menu of Flow Cytometry testing.

Microbiology/Immunology offers rapid turn-around-time on selected tests. Tests include: Gram Stains, Crytococcal Antigen, Group A Strep, RSV, and Influenza A and B Antigens.  

The Clinical Pathology Receiving area is located on the MCV campus in the Clinical Support Center (CSC), 403 N. 13th Street, 6th floor Room 643.

--The Microbiology/Immunology laboratory compiles and publishes yearly statistics on bacteria isolated in the institution versus formulary antibiotics.
