1-1 Atherosclerosis of Aorta
Note the numerous raised plaques covering most of the initmal surface of the aorta. Complications associated with severe atherosclerosis of the aorta include narrowing and/or occlusion of the orifices of vessels arising from the aorta, embolization of plaque material, and superimposed thrombosis with embolization. Aortic aneurysms may occur in association with atherosclerosis.
