Vegetation: Valve Cusps (32-43000)
This section shows a valve cusp with a vegetation. Note the apparent friability of the vegetation. Infected vegetations tend to break off and embolize ("septic emboli") producing septic infarcts in the organs in which they lodge.

Vegetation (32-43000)
In addition to fibrin, infected vegetations may contain neutrophils and often clumps of the infecting organism (in this case, bacteria).
