3-11 Sarcoidosis of Heart
This section shows a giant cell with asteroid body. The latter represents aggregation of cytoplasmic microfilaments and microtubules. Asteroid bodies may be seen in giant cells of granulomas of various types and thus are not specific for sarcoidosis.
