A higher power view shows
the mucosal ulcer to better advantage. There is prominent submucosal
inflammation with scattered non-caseating granulomas. These sarcoid-like
granulomas are found in about 60% of the cases of Crohn's disease
(hence the alternate name "granulomatous colitis"). They
are not found in ulcerative colitis. |
