Hematology/Oncology Lymph Node Seminar for Medical II Students

Slides 7A-B Lymph Node/History of Melanoma

This lymph node is from a patient with a history of melanoma. Can you find the tumor cells which have metastasized to this node? Carcinomas frequently disseminate through lymphatics to lymph nodes with resulting lymph node enlargement. The tumor initially involves the lymph node sinuses and then spreads to replace the entire node. They must be distinguished from sinus histiocytes.
