Second Year Medical Students Enrolled in Pathology Elective 2006

The Pathology elective introduces medical students to the field of pathology and the role of the pathologist in the diagnosis and treatment of disease. Students begin with a tour of the Department of Pathology followed by a general introduction to anatomic and clinical pathology. The remaining time is spent in different areas of pathology including autopsy, forensic pathology, fine needle aspiration biopsy, hematopathology, transfusion medicine, microbiology, immunology and surgical pathology. This year's course was taught by Enrique Gerszten, MD, and Mary Jo Martin, MD.
