Amanda Garza, graduate student in the VCU Oncogenomics and Proteomics Research Program under the leadership of Youngman Oh, PhD, has been selected to present recent research findings at the upcoming 90th Annual Meeting of the Endocrine Society (ENDO 08). This meeting brings together the worlds's largest gathering of endocrinologists from around the world to hear about the latest advancements in the field of endocrinology.
Ms. Garza's abstract has been selected for an oral presentation at the "Hormones and Human Aging: Bench to Bedside" session, which for a graduate student is practically unprecedented. Ms. Garza's research will reach thousands of clinicians, researchers, clinical investigators, post docs, and other professionals at ENDO 08 in San Francisco June 15-18, 2008. The Endocrine Society, dedicated to the research and treatment of endocrine disorders, is an international organization representing 85 countries with over 13,000 members.
The abstract chosen for ENDO 08 is entitled, "IGFBP-3 Plays An Essential Role In Cellular Senescence; Molecular And Clinical Implications." This research offers new insight into cellular senescence and the aging process.
