"A Practical Guide to Automating the Transfusion Service"

This week's Grand Rounds were presented by Steve Armstrong, MT (AMT), BB (ASCP), Manager of Transfusion Medicine Services in the Department of Pathology. The lecture Mr. Armstrong gave to faculty, residents and staff, "A Practical Guide to Automating the Transfusion Service," is highlighted in the following educational objectives:

  • Discuss the process in evaluating new automated instruments.
  • Define a given institution's instrument evaluation protocol.
  • Provide a basic understanding of the technology currently available.
  • Explain how to incorporate staff training and instrument validation.
