Dr. C. Bruce Alexander is Professor and Vice Chair of Pathology at University of Alabama at Birmingham, and Program Director for the residency program. He is a forensic pathologist but is also involved in both Anatomic and Clinical Pathology at UAB. Dr. Alexander is a former
chair of PRODS (the national pathology program directors' association), and
a former chair of the RRC for Pathology, the accrediting body for Pathology training programs. He is a member of the Board of Directors for the Honor Medical Society, Alpha Omega Alpha (AOA), and for the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP). Dr. Alexander is also president-elect of the Academy of Clinical
Laboratory Physicians and Scientists (ACLPS).
Dr. Alexander presented a special grand rounds lecture for faculty, residents and staff on the topic, "What do Pathologists do?" His lecture is highlighted in the following educational objectives:
- Recognize and differentiate our services to patients in general.
- Develop assessment tools for these services.
- Apply this to each rotation in 48 months of training.
