GRAND ROUNDS PRESENTATION

"Fishing for Mutations: Insights from Transgenic Models"

Richard N. Winn, PhD, Associate Professor, and Director of the Aquatic Biotechnology and Environmental Laboratory, Warnell School of Forestry and Natural Resources, University of Georgia, presented this week's grand rounds lecture for faculty, residents and staff.

Dr. Winn's topic, "Fishing for Mutations: Insights from Transgenic Models," is highlighted in the following educational objectives:

  • Understand the importance of mutations in disease processes and the challenges associated with detection of mutations in vivo.
  • Describe transgenic animal models and explain how these models are providing new insights into the mechanisms of mutagenesis relevant to the human condition.
