"First Graduate of the Pathology MLT Career Development Program"

Many years ago Roger started his career as a phlebotomist in the plasma collection center of a company called Biolife Plasma Services. "Through hard work and determination I was promoted to the position of Assistant Manager and then Manager. I was with the company for 25 years until it closed in August 2003 due to reorganization."

The dissolution of Biolife brought Roger to the Department of Pathology in October 2003. Since then he has worked in the position of Phlebotomist, Senior, in Outreach. "As soon as I found out about the educational program that the Pathology Department has to offer, I took advantage of it. I enrolled in the MLT Career Development Program and began taking classes at J. Sargeant Reynolds Community College, which I finished in May 2007." According to Pathology Personnel Manager, Judith Patch, "Because of this achievement Roger was able to apply for and accept employment in an MLT position in our Pediatric Oncology Laboratory, which is a promotion."
