The Virginia Commonwealth University Office of Graduate Medical Education recently sponsored the Fourth Annual VCU Health System Resident Research Day. Three residents in the Department of Pathology presented their research posters during the event.
Patrick McDonough's poster won 2nd place in the poster competition at the Annual Resident Research Day. His very interesting study looked at gene expression in melanomas, using the Affymetric Expression Array platform. The actual title of his poster was, "Genome-wide Oligonucleotide Microarray Analysis of Recurrent Malignant Melanoma."
Also presenting was second-year resident Saud Rahman, MD, whose poster was titled, "Disseminated Gastrointestinal Histoplasmosis and AIDS Presenting as Diffuse Intraperitoneal Malignancy: A Cytologic, Histologic, and Microbiologic Correlation." (click to view)
Molecular Diagnostics Fellow Ranjitha Veerappan, MD, presented her poster regarding, "Evaluation of Commercially Available Reagents for Detection of JAK2 V617F Mutation." (click to view)
Congratulations to these talented physician researchers and the faculty who advised them. |
