"Mitoenergetic Failure in Neurodegenerative Disease"

This week's grand rounds lecture was delivered by guest speaker Bradley Miller, MD, PhD. Dr. Miller is a Faculty Instructor in the Department of Pathology at the University of Virginia in Charlottesville. His topic, "Mitoenergetic Failure in Neurodegenerative Disease," is highlighted in the following educational objectives:

  • Understand the recent experimental link between amyloid-beta overexpression of tau-related cellular pathology.
  • Review the evidence for mitochondrial pathology in Alzheimer's disease.
  • Examine the accumulation of mitochondrial DNA mutations and impaired mitoenergetics in Parkinson's disease.
