"Iron Syndromes and Transfusion Medicine" by Duncan MacIvor, MD

Duncan MacIvor, MD, third-year resident and Micaela Ross, MD, Hematopathology fellow, presented this week's grand rounds lecture for faculty, residents and staff.

Dr. MacIvor spoke on the topic, "Iron Syndromes and Transfusion Medicine," which is highlighted in the following educational objectives:

  • Describe iron metabolism
  • Become familiar with the scope of iron disorders seen in transfusion medicine.
  • Discuss current practice and future directions in treatment of iron-related disorders.

Dr. Ross presented, "Diffuse large B-cell lymphoma," which addressed these educational objectives:

  • Review the morphology of DLBCL.
  • Review the immunohistochemical staining properties of DLBCL.
  • Review the differential diagnosis of DLBCL.
