Two cytopathology fellows at Virginia Commonwealth University Health System, recently presented the Pathology grand rounds lecture for faculty, residents and staff.
Dr. Burton's topic, "Stem Cells (CD44+/CD24- or low) are Differentially Expressed in Triple Negative (ER-, PR- and Her2-) Invasive Mammary Carcinoma Phenotype," is highlighted in the following educational objectives:
- Define the phenotypic characteristics of breast cancer stem cells.
- Evaluate breast cancer stem cell expression from an immunohistochemistry and molecular prospective, particularly in relation to the triple negative phenotype (ER-, PR- and Her 2-) of breast carcinoma.

Dr. Jakowski delievered a presentation entitled, "Hodgkins Lymphoma: An Illustrated History- from the work of the morbid anatomist to the early cellular pathologist," which provided audience members with information regarding how to:
- Be familiar with the major historical figures in the early descriptions of Hodgkins lymphoma.
- Explain the origins of the “Reed-Sternberg cell.”
- Know other oddities and historical facts.
