The Clinical Laboratory Standards Institute (formerly NCCLS) is a global, nonprofit, standards-developing organization dedicated to the development, evaluation and implementation of consensus standards that support the delivery of quality patient care. Visit their web site for additional information, at www.clsi.org.
According to their web site, the mission of the Area Committee on Clinical Chemistry and Toxicology is to improve the quality of laboratory test results by identifying the need for, prioritizing, and managing the development of standards and guidelines. This award recognizes Dr. Miller's service to the voluntary consensus standards effort and to the medical-testing and healthcare-services fields, as stated in a letter signed by the outgoing CLSI President, Thomas L. Hearn, PhD.
Dr. Miller was presented with a crystal globe and engraved base during the November Faculty Research luncheon.
