Objectives:
  • Understand the concept of adult stem cells and cancer stem cells, particularly in leukemia stem cells.
  • Recognize the importance of leukemic stem cells associated with disease progression.
  • Understand the concept of somatic cell reprogramming and its clinical implication in cellular therapy.
Abstract:

Medicine in the United States is facing unprecedented changes and challenges and nowhere is this more evident than in academic medical centers. Shifting resources and alliances, combined with disruptive innovations and technologies are presenting new challenges to the traditional missions of education, research, and clinical care. This talk will discuss the current state of affairs for academic medicine and opportunities for personal, professional and organizational growth in the future.
