GRAND ROUNDS PRESENTATION

"Surgical Pathology of the Bone Marrow"

Sentara Laboratory Services (SLS), presented this week's grand rounds lecture for faculty, residents and staff.

Dr. Fisher's topic, "Surgical Pathology of the Bone Marrow" is highlighted in the following educational objectives:

  • List and discuss the rationale for some of the more important “practice altering” changes in the current WHO 2008 classification of myeloid neoplasms.
  • Discuss and understand the new “clinico-pathologic-genetic paradigm” for the WHO 2008 classification of the myeloid neoplasms and the sentinel role of testing for genetic translocations, deletions, trisomies, and mutations in myleoid leukemogenesis.
