EXCELLENCE IN TEACHING

"Pathology Faculty Honored"


During the 6th Annual Teaching Awards Program sponsored by the School of Medicine, Virginia Commonwealth University on October 19, 2004, seven Pathology faculty members were recognized for their excellence in teaching.

Colleen K. Jackson-Cook, PhD, was presented with the Outstanding Departmental Teacher Award in Health Sciences Education for her teaching within the Department of Human Genetics. Dr. Jackson-Cook is a member of the Pathology Department involved in not only education but also clinical services and research, as Director of the Jackson-Cook Cytogenetics Laboratory.

Best Teacher in the Course Awards
were presented to the following faculty:

  • H. Davis Massey, MD, PhD, DDS, for the M-II Pathogenesis course
  • Nitya R. Ghatak, MD, for M-II Pathology Teaching

Outstanding Teacher Awards in Undergraduate Medical Education
Faculty with High Evaluation Awards
were presented to the following faculty:

  • William I. Rosenblum, MD, for the M-II Central Nervous System course
  • Margaret M. Grimes, MD, for the M-II Cardiovascular course
  • Enrique Gerszten, MD, for M-II Pathology Teaching
  • Melissa J. Contos, MD, for the M-II Pathogenesis course
