| Paleopathology Case 67 Vertebral column from a 20-year-old Peruvian man who died 1150 AD. Examination of the lumbar spine and sacrum revealed a severe retolisthesis of the lumbosacral junction with severe compression fractures of the L4 and L5 vertebral bodies. In addition, there was a loss of the normal lumbar lordosis. Radiographic examination revealed a complete bony fusion of the L3-S1 vertebral bodies. This was confirmed by computed tomography.
