Services: Specimen Acquisition & Patient Consent


This includes two major activities, which include both focused prospective collection and processing of  human tissues and use of valuable surgical pathology and clinical data:

1 - Collection of tissues for IRB-approved research projects

  • Obtain specimens:
    • Storage and retrieval of specimens
    • For multi institutional protocols and clinical trials, transfer specimens to central study facility
  • Fresh tissue acquisition (without storage) for tissue culture to be performed by the requesting investigator
  • Mononuclear cell separation and cryopreservation from bone marrow and/or peripheral blood specimens
  • Frozen OCT embedded tissue sections for to be performed by the requesting investigator

2 - Assist in obtaining informed consents for IRB approved protocols for tissue acquisition
