Binh Nguyen is a PhD candidate in the Department of Pathology. He earned his bachelor's in biology at University of Virginia (UVA). After finishing his master's degree in anatomy at Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU), he entered the VCU Medical School's MD/PhD program. Sarah Compton finished her PhD work in the Department of Pharmacology and Toxicology. She earned her bachelors degree in Physiology and Pharmacology from the University of the West of England. She entered the Ph.D. program in the year 2000 and is now doing her postdoctoral fellowship at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Her thesis work focused on the pharmacological regulation of chaperone proteins and their subsequent effects on the regulation of the enzyme telomerase.
Keith O. Jensen was a PhD student in the Department of Human Genetics. Keith earned his B.S. in Engineering Science and Mechanics from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University (VA Tech). He finished his PhD dissertation entitled, "Dual Regulation of Telomerase Activity by HSF-1 and its Role in Prostate Cancer Progression."
Kennon Poynter was a PhD student in the Department of Human Genetics. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Biology at Mary Baldwin College. She recently finished her PhD dissertation on "Telomerase Inhibition and Sensitization of Breast Tumor Cells," and has taken a job as a clinical trials coordinator with Beaufort, Inc., in Norfolk, VA.
