Postdoctoral Positions In Hepatobiliary Cancer Research Available - 2007

Postdoctoral positions are currently available to conduct long-term NIH-grant-funded research on the molecular pathogenesis and therapeutic targeting of hepatobiliary cancer. Our laboratory is interested in gene expression profiling of cholangiocarcinomas to identify novel molecular targets for therapy. In addition, we are focused on defining critical epithelial-stromal cell relationships associated with cholangiocarcinoma progression. Aberrant growth factor and cytokine-mediated signaling disorders common to the pathogenesis of human and experimental rat models of cholangiocarcinoma are also being investigated.

Novel in vitro and in vivo preclinical models of cholangiocarcinoma that mimic the human disease have been developed in our laboratory for use in these studies. In addition, human cholangiocarcinoma cells and tissues, and related risk conditions are available for this research, which is ultimately aimed at developing and testing novel molecular targeting strategies for cholangiocarcinoma therapy.

Candidates should be highly motivated and possess a Ph.D. in Cell and Molecular Biology, Molecular Pharmacology, Pathology, or related fields of study.  Experience in mammalian cell culture, tumorigenicity assays, gene transfection methods, siRNA technology, and such procedures as in situ hybridization, FISH, real-time RT-PCR, Affymetrix microarray analysis, Western blotting, immunohistochemistry and laser capture microdissection are highly desirable. Preference will also be given to candidates deemed as being eligible for NIH Postdoctoral Fellowships or Traineeships (or equivalent awards).

Salary levels are attractive and commensurate with experience and qualifications. Interested persons should apply by sending a letter of interest, an up-dated Curriculum Vitae, copies of recent peer-reviewed research papers, and letters of reference from three persons familiar with the candidate's research training, scientific writing abilities, and experience to:
